I know..it's been a long time!

Time sure does fly when you are busy. I haven't been on here to blog in so long I almost forgot how to do it. I happen to keep Robin's blog site in My Favorites and check it all the time and wish I was as dedicated as her, maybe one day.

I am sure most of you that read this are aware that I have been transferred back into dispatch after working 5 1/2 years as the Logistics Clerk where I work. With all the budget cuts and the fact that I have put 17 years into the Dept. they find it easier to place me back into an enviroment that I can do almost with my eyes closed rather than see me exit out the doors when there is a possiblity that the position I worked at the past 5 years might not be there next year. I was not happy about leaving but I am glad that I still have a job!

With T.S. Fay headed our way, Doug has been assigned to EOC and I will work in dispatch until it disappears. Another fun thing to look forward to during "hurricane season". Dispatch has not been assigned 12 hour shifts yet, but we will see what Fay has in store for our coast. I thought I wouldn't ever have to sleep at the Dept. again, but that is not the case now that I have been transferred back in comm center.

The one good thing about being busy is....well I have a good excuse. Doug and I took a trip to Barcelona, Spain and went on a cruise through Italy. It was an awesome trip and if I could have stayed for a month I would have (downside to that is I would miss talking to my family). Pictures will be posted soon, just keep pushing me to put them on here....

Anyway, I am sorry for not blogging sooner and I will try to be do a better job in the future.
Until then.....

Trip to Wisconsin

Our family took a trip up to Wisconsin for our grandmother's funeral and we took a time out to go the park and do a little sledding. We had a good time throwing snowballs and flinging each other in the snow. Uncle Bill bought a little flat rollup sled and we had so much fun. It was a nice break from all the sadness we have been dealing with.

If you want to ask me about my day.... well it started out by packing the rental car to go back to the airport, with a stop by Aunt Judy and Uncle Bill's for a last minute visit. I went to confirm our flight for Orlando and it was CANCELED. On the phone I went calling our travel agent and the next flight available is Saturday - three days away!! We made the necessary calls to let them know of our delay and now we are watching the snow come down. It is very windy and the snow is coming down in huge snowflake "chunks". I know that Jacob and Hannah would LOVE to be here in this snow. As I type this Aunt Judy comes in to say that she has gotten stuck in the snow. So what do I do....?? Grab Doug's camera and head out the door to take pictures of Uncle Bill, Doug, Tad and Mark pushing her car out of the snow. I love the snow....it's just too cold !!!!!

WOW !!

Wow, time sure does fly when you are busy... and yes, I have been busy!! As my family knows - Christmas was at my house this past year and it was great to have all most the whole family together, we missed Ann, David, Audra and little Sebastian (who isn't so little anymore) but they were in our hearts. Douglas cooked and awesome dinner and... well most of you know the rest. The one thing about Christmas that is sad is having to take all the decorations down, I like the feeling I have when my christmas lights are on and I have a bunch of candles lit, now all I need is a fireplace!

I do miss the snow living in Florida....I remember when I was little listening to the radio until they called out our county over the air stating "no school tomorrow" and piling on the layers of winter clothes to go sledding at night!!! To be young again......

I am hoping to get up to see Aunt Judy and Uncle Bill before all the snow disappears but we will have to wait and see.

Once again I find myself rambling so I will say goodnight!!! Hopefully it won't take me so long to blog next time!!

Thanksgiving

Today is Thanksgiving and I didn't get to make that trip to Tallahassee to join the rest of my family, however, I had a great time in Orlando with Doug's parents and his son Michael. We stuffed our selves full of food and gathered in the living room to visit. Michael had pictures of a recent trip to Ireland that we plan to look at, however, there was a technical problem and we decided to look at them when we get together for Christmas. It has been a tradition for the past several years to make sure that the decorations for Christmas were up at The Massey home on Thanksgiving day so that my father-in-law, Leonard, would not climb any ladders to do it himself. We finished up just before dinner and admired our hard work (I was wishing that it was already taken care of at my own house). Doug and I decided to try something new this year and are hanging icicle lights instead of the normal chaser lights. I would like everything done before we go on our cruise, but we will have to see. I am looking forward to everyone coming to my house for Christmas, and No.... I don't think I will be doing the cooking !!!

Reunion Day

Can you believe that this is the first reunion in ages and we all packed into five vehicles and headed to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure in Orlando. We had so much fun and rode so many rides because dad had what they call "the blue card" and it allowed six to go through the express lines at the parks, so we took turns and everyone that wanted to ride got a chance to ride. We closed the park down and everyone had a great time (except for Aunt Judy).

Did Anyone Miss Me??

If you look at the last date that I blogged, you might think that I fell off the face of the earth. Well actually I haven't done that, however, I have had alot of things going on at once. I was reading my sister-in-laws blog trying to catch up on what the family has been up to and decided I guess I could actually try to catch those that are interested up-to-date things that have been going on in my life.

First off, I have been seeing an Internal Medicine Doctor in Orlando because I have been fighting a losing battle with myself when it comes to stomach issues (sound familiar Michael?) and I guess I'm to the point that if I don't find the root of the problem... well I not quite sure what I would do. Anyway, I have undergone some medical procedures and I am popping pills left and right, but still no happy medium. I am in the process of getting an appt. for a follow-up, so we will see.

I did go to Crooked Creek River in GA with five other scrapbookers and spent the weekend in a 3 bedroom cabin and hardly went outside to see daylight. We moved all the furniture in the living and dining area and unloaded all our supplies - what fun we had !!!! We brought food from home and made one stop at the local Wal-Mart to get snacks and cooked instead of eating out. Well, I didn't cook but helped clean up the dishes afterwards (those who know me know that my hubby does all the cooking).

I am SO excited to say that my entire family will be getting together in a week !!!! It has been a long time since we have been together and I am so looking forward to hugging each and everyone of them. I have missed the Bristol Clan, and I have missed the Tallahassee Clan, and definitely the Racine Clan !!!!! We are going to a wedding - WOO-Hoo my older brother is finally tying the knot!! I am not sure if Martha can handle the O'Donnell Clan, but I plan to welcome her with open arms (and a bunch of whispers in her ear to get her ready).

I guess I could list all the activities that I have been doing, however, I am excited to say that most of my halloween decorations are up. Doug installed an electrical outlet in the foyer today near the iron gate so that it easier to plug the lights in. I guess the kid in me will always be around for all the holiday decorating - it so much fun. Even my desk at work is decorated, maybe I will take a couple pictures and share. We will see...

Well, I guess I should go cut my hubby's hair, so I will say good night for now and I will try to get a little more blogging in.

Part of my Job !!

If you look closely, this picture was taken last year around October. If you ask how I know that, well check out the socks!! Yes they are halloween socks and I have a pair for almost every day for the whole month of October!! I am actually in the trunk of a patrol car working on the control box that works our in-car video systems and one of the Cmdr.'s decided it would be funny to close the trunk lid and take a picture of my feet hanging out with his cellphone. I thought it might be fun to post this and let you know this is one of the many things that I do at my job. I hope you find it as funny as I did!!
